Andy Brown Appointed Executive Director of Appalachian Resource Conservation & Development Council

Andy Brown has been selected as the new Executive Director of the Appalachian Resource Conservation & Development Council (ARCD). The appointment was unanimously approved by the ARCD Board of Directors after an extensive search. Brown will assume his role on July 15. With a background in conservation, entrepreneurship, and farming, Brown brings a wealth of experience and leadership to ARCD as it enters its 30th year of operation.

Prior to joining ARCD, Brown served as the Executive Director of the Rio Grande Headwaters Land Trust, where he worked with farmers and ranchers in Colorado’s San Luis Valley to protect land and water resources. He also held the position of conservation manager at Trout Unlimited, focusing on conservation projects for wild and native trout in the southern Appalachian region. Additionally, Brown has taught entrepreneurship and small business management at Mayland Community College in North Carolina.

Board Chair Roy Settle expressed excitement about Brown’s appointment, highlighting his positive history and experience in the conservation and non-profit sectors. Brown’s selection is seen as positioning ARCD for continued success in serving the agricultural community.

In response to his appointment, Brown expressed gratitude and honor, emphasizing his longstanding advocacy for the rural economy and way of life. He looks forward to joining forces with the ARCD team and its partners to make a positive impact on food security and the health of rural communities in northeast Tennessee.
