Dr. Christopher Bernier Begins Tenure as Duval County’s New Superintendent

Dr. Christopher Bernier officially assumes the role of Duval County’s superintendent on Monday. His appointment follows a comprehensive search process that involved over two dozen candidates and two previous attempts. In June, Bernier’s four-year contract, valued at $320,000, was approved, positioning him as the sixth highest-paid superintendent in Florida. Prior to this role, Bernier served as the superintendent of Lee County for a period of just under two years. In an interview with Action News Jax, Bernier outlined his key priorities, which include addressing the district’s finances, improving teacher pay, and increasing student enrollment. For more insights from Bernier, tune in to CBS47 and FOX30.
