Former Apple Software Engineer Leaves Job to Pursue Media Business

Corey Griffin, a former software engineer at Apple, has left his job to focus on his media business. Griffin, who had previously worked for Apple Music, made the decision to leave in order to have more control over his schedule and spend time with his children. He had been with Apple for two years before making the move.

Griffin’s journey in software engineering began at a young age, and he honed his skills through freelance work and various job experiences. He showcased his side projects, including his media company CG3 and the successful teleprompter product Speakflow, during the interview process at Apple. These side projects played a significant role in helping him secure the job.

During his time at Apple, Griffin worked on software for the Apple Music team, focusing on radio and podcasts. He initially worked remotely and later adopted a hybrid work pattern that included going to the office in Culver City, California. However, Griffin ultimately decided to leave Apple to pursue his media business full-time, particularly focusing on the Speakflow product.

Griffin’s decision to leave Apple was driven by his desire for more flexibility and control over his schedule, allowing him to prioritize his family commitments. He believed that his media business, which had already generated six-figure revenue in the past year, could replace his Apple salary. Griffin left Apple in December 2023 to take this leap and pursue his entrepreneurial goals.

With his media business, Griffin now enjoys the freedom and flexibility to spend more time with his children, including dropping them off and picking them up from school. While the decision to leave Apple was a risk, Griffin was motivated to bet on himself and pursue his long-standing goal of working for himself full-time.

Griffin’s story highlights the importance of showcasing side projects and diverse skills in the job market, as well as the desire for work-life balance and the pursuit of entrepreneurial dreams.
