Former President Trump Claims Ownership of Funds Raised by Think Tank

Former President Donald Trump has expressed his belief that he is entitled to a portion of the funds raised by the America First Policy Institute (AFPI), a think tank founded by his former staffers and allies. Trump has privately complained about the millions of dollars raised by AFPI, claiming that the organization’s leader, Brooke Rollins, is profiting off his name. However, legal experts have pointed out that AFPI, as a tax-exempt nonprofit, is prohibited from using its funds for political purposes or disproportionately benefiting private individuals. Trump’s complaints have strained his relationship with Rollins and highlight his efforts to shape his future administration. AFPI has positioned itself as a potential “White House in waiting” should Trump win the 2024 presidential election.
