Ye’s apology comes after a string of antisemitic comments that began in October 2022. He suggested on Instagram that Sean “Diddy” Combs’ career was controlled by Jews and later threatened Jewish people in a tweet. Ye’s remarks on Tucker Carlson’s former Fox News show further perpetuated his antisemitic beliefs. As a result, he faced consequences such as temporary suspension from social media platforms, severed ties with Hollywood talent agency CAA, and lost fashion deals with Adidas, Gap, and Balenciaga.
In December 2022, Ye appeared on alt-right conspiracy theorist Alex Jones’ talk show “InfoWars” and expressed admiration for Adolf Hitler, claiming that he sees “good things” about him. These comments were met with widespread criticism. Notably, a hate group held a demonstration in support of Ye on a Los Angeles freeway overpass, displaying a banner with antisemitic messages.
Ye’s upcoming joint album with Ty Dolla Sign, titled “Vultures,” has faced delays in its release. Originally planned for December 15, it has been postponed twice, with the current release date set for January 12, according to Ye’s representatives.
The Jewish community and various organizations have called for accountability and understanding from Ye, highlighting the importance of addressing and rectifying antisemitic behavior.
