Lawsuit Accuses Kanye West and Yeezy Company of Mistreatment and Unpaid Wages

Kanye West and his Yeezy company are facing a new lawsuit filed by eight employees, including minors, who allege mistreatment and non-payment of wages. The lawsuit, filed in a United States District Court in California, claims that West, his former chief of staff Milo Yiannopolous, and Yeezy referred to the team members as “slaves” and subjected them to derogatory treatment. The plaintiffs are seeking payment for unpaid wages, attorney fees, and damages for emotional distress.

The team involved in the lawsuit was working on developing a streaming service app for West’s project, Vultures 2. Yeezy had acquired the app YZYVSN for this venture, and the team consisted of staff members from around the world, including minors as young as 14. The suit alleges that team members were bullied on Discord, with derogatory remarks based on age, race, gender, sexual orientation, and ethnicity. Racial slurs were reportedly made against Black team members, and only white team members were promised developer positions.

The lawsuit also claims that minors were exposed to pornographic images in group chats. The team members were promised payment after completing the streaming service app, but it never materialized, according to the suit. The plaintiffs argue that no measures were taken to protect underage workers from being exposed to pornography while performing their work.

This is not the first lawsuit West is facing from former employees. Earlier this month, his ex-assistant accused him of sexual harassment, breach of contract, and wrongful termination. West has stated his intention to countersue, calling the claims “baseless” and accusing the assistant of blackmail and extortion.

Yiannopolous, in response to the allegations, denied them and referred to the lawsuit as a “joke.” He stated that the company had signed releases and agreements with all contributors, including parents or guardians where appropriate. He also denied the existence of Yeezy Porn, which was mentioned in the lawsuit.
