Montage Gold Receives Environmental Approvals for Koné Project, Moves Closer to Becoming Premier African Gold Producer

Montage Gold Corp. has reached a significant milestone in the development of its Koné project in Côte d’Ivoire. The company has received the necessary environmental approvals from the Ministry of the Environment, Sustainable Development and Ecological Transition of Côte d’Ivoire, granting the Environmental Permit for the project. This permit allows Montage to move forward with the development of the Koné project, which is expected to become one of the highest quality gold projects in Africa.

The approval of the Environmental Permit highlights the strong support Montage has received from various government agencies and local communities. The company’s team members were honored to be received by President Alassane Ouattara of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, who reiterated the country’s support for the mining sector and the advancement of the Koné project. The President recognized the positive benefits the project can generate for all stakeholders.

Martino De Ciccio, CEO of Montage, expressed his satisfaction with the progress made on the Koné project. He emphasized the significant support received from local stakeholders, lenders, and shareholders. De Ciccio also highlighted the company’s goal of becoming the partner of choice for stakeholders by leveraging their win-win approach focused on local content.

Montage has also submitted the mining permit applications for the Koné project and expects to receive all necessary approvals during the second half of 2024. The mining permit applications cover a total area of 357.5 sq.km and include the Koné deposit, the Gbongogo Main deposit, and a haulage corridor. Sufficient land area has been allocated for the construction of the mine’s plant and related surface infrastructure.

The Environmental Permit includes approval for in-pit tailings disposal, a best practice in the mining industry. This makes the Koné project the first mine in Côte d’Ivoire to receive such approval, further highlighting Montage’s commitment to sustainable and responsible mining practices.

Montage Gold Corp. is a Canadian-listed company focused on becoming a premier multi-asset African gold producer. The Koné project, located in Côte d’Ivoire, is the company’s flagship project. Based on the Feasibility Study published in 2024, the Koné project is expected to have a long 16-year mine life, low all-in sustaining costs, and significant annual gold production.

With the environmental approvals in place, Montage is well-positioned to progress its strategy of creating a premier African gold producer. The company recognizes the highly favorable investment climate in Côte d’Ivoire, the country’s significant geological potential, and its own extensive experience in the region.

Montage Gold Corp. continues to build momentum and remains committed to unlocking significant value for all its stakeholders as it advances the Koné project towards an investment decision.
