Nationwide Milk Carton Shortage Impacts Schools in Fargo-Moorhead Area

A nationwide shortage of milk cartons is affecting schools in the Fargo-Moorhead area. The shortage specifically involves the physical half-pint containers used to hold milk, not the milk itself. West Fargo Public Schools was informed of the shortage by their milk vendor, Cass-Clay, in late September. Since then, they have experienced multiple instances of running out of milk cartons. Fargo Public Schools and Moorhead Area Public Schools have also faced similar shortages and have resorted to offering milk from gallon or half-gallon jugs poured into plastic cups to students when cartons were unavailable. The shortage of milk cartons is causing logistical challenges for schools in the area.
