Shepherdstown Streetfest Draws Largest Turnout in Years

Shepherdstown Streetfest, an annual festival in Shepherdstown, West Virginia, attracted a record-breaking number of attendees this year. Thousands of people flooded the streets on Saturday, making it the event’s largest turnout in years. The festival, organized by John Meeker and his committee, brought together vendors, local businesses, and nonprofit organizations to provide a day of fun and fellowship for residents and tourists from the region.

According to John Meeker, the president of Streetfest’s organizing committee, attendance was estimated to be up by 25-30% compared to last year. The event featured 75 vendors, including local artisans selling handmade crafts, local businesses engaging with the community, and local nonprofits raising awareness about their causes.

In addition to the diverse range of vendors, visitors enjoyed a beer garden and live musical performances by local bands such as Black Masala and the Charles Washington Symphony Orchestra, who concluded their season with a performance at the festival.

Streetfest has been a longstanding tradition in Shepherdstown for over 20 years. Throughout its history, the event has supported various local organizations. This year, proceeds from vendor signups, beer sales, and other sources will be donated to the Shepherdstown Community Club and the Jefferson County Middle School band. The funds will be used to purchase new instruments for the students. The Shepherdstown Community Club is known for organizing local events and maintaining Morgan’s Grove Park and the War Memorial Building on German Street.

The exact amount each organization will receive remains unknown until all the funds raised have been tallied. In 2023, Streetfest donated $5,000 to the Shepherdstown Volunteer Fire Department and Stars that Shine.
